Ready to drive Thailand with digital technology
National Telecom Public Company Limited (NT) reinforced its leadership of Thailand’s telecom landscape and joined Telecoms World Asia 2022, held at Centara Grand at CentralWorld during November 2-3, 2022. NT revealed the potential to offer the most comprehensive telecommunication infrastructure in the country as well as its readiness to provide 5G to drive communication and digital services.
Mr. Seikson Mitkasem, Senior Executive Vice President (Marketing and Products) of National Telecom Public Company Limited, or NT, gave a speech on the topic of “Thailand Next, Through Technology”, saying: “More than 77% of Thai people currently have access to the Internet network and the number of Thai mobile phone numbers is more than 95 million. According to this year’s bandwidth statistics, it is forecast that the domestic traffic will grow to 14.57 terabits per second and the international traffic will be as large as 21.56 terabits per second. However, when comparing the growth in bandwidth to that of last year, it is interesting that the growth rate of domestic bandwidth is approximately 20% higher than international one due to the huge domestic consumption growth. Many content providers have expanded their services to Thailand by setting POPs to provide a better user experience. Therefore, the domestic bandwidth has grown considerably and it is likely to increase more than the foreign bandwidth in the coming years.”
He also mentioned NT’s readiness to drive all businesses with digital technology in order to support growth and customer demands in all dimensions and boost technological standard of the country.
“NT benefits from the merger between TOT Public Company Limited (TOT) and CAT Telecom Public Company Limited (CAT), which makes NT stronger and more competitive in terms of 5G service and the most comprehensive telecommunication infrastructure in Thailand,” said Mr. Seikson.
“NT is also elevating telecommunication services to be more efficient and comprehensive with seven strengths, including: 1) over 25,000 telecommunication towers nationwide, 2) nine international submarine cable systems that connect to every continent, 3) five main frequency bands totalling 540 MHz, 4) underground conduits with a total distance of 4,600 kilometres, 5) four million core kilometres of fibre-optic cables, 6) unrestricted international phone calls from all countries and 7) 13 data centres across the country enhanced by safe storage with NT’s cloud and cyber security services. All contribute to a strong single entity that can meet every customer need in the most efficient way and is ready to drive the country’s economy and society into the digital era in a comprehensive manner.”
At the event, Dr. Yuttasart Nitipaichit, Ph.D. Vice President, Cloud & Big Data Business, National Telecom Public Company Limited (NT) gave a speech on “Digital Transformation with Hybrid Cloud” and Mrs. Ubonpan Chuenchom, Vice President of Carrier Business Department of NT, joined with the topic “Why is open infrastructure becoming critical for telcos?”. In the exhibition area, NT presented its readiness to connect the network to all regions of the world as well as various digital solution services, which attracted great interest from many telecommunication operators, including telcos, content providers and OTTs.
Telecoms World Asia 2022 was held during November 2-3, 2022, at the Convention Center, 22nd Floor, Centara Grand at CentralWorld, Bangkok, under the theme of “Digital Transformation for Asian Telcos”. It is one of the Asia-Pacific region’s most important international telecommunication conferences, attracting over 1,000 leading telecom leaders and digital solution providers.
