MedPark Hospital and Northwestern Medicine have recently entered into a memorandum of understanding (MOU) aimed at developing clinical educational programs, including the exchange of visiting physicians from the United States.
During a signing ceremony, Prof. Dr. Sinn Anuras and Dr. Pongpat Patanavanich, together with MedPark Hospital's management team, welcomed Dr. Daniel Derman, Senior Vice President of Administration for Northwestern Memorial and Northwestern Medicine, as well as Ms. Jessica Morrissey, Chief Executive of Global Development and Director of International Relations at Northwestern Medicine. The purpose of the ceremony was to formalise the collaborative relationship and explore opportunities for cooperation in education, research, clinical observation, and consultation services provided by visiting physicians for the benefit of MedPark's patients.
This MOU signifies the commitment of both organisations to pursue collaborative initiatives in developing educational programs at MedPark Hospital. The primary objectives include preparing Thai physicians for international certifications and establishing shared education and clinical observation programs between Thailand and the United States, which will involve hosting visiting physicians at MedPark.
Prof. Dr. Sinn Anuras stated, "Education and research have always been our top priorities. Therefore, MedPark will support our medical staff in their pursuit of advanced education. Collaborating with Northwestern Medicine will be highly beneficial for Thai physicians and patients alike. This partnership will grant MedPark's patients and their beneficiaries access to high-quality, advanced, and innovative healthcare services available at our hospital."
Dr. Pongpat Patanavanich added, "This collaboration represents our commitment to exchanging medical knowledge for Thai physicians. We are grateful for the support of the U.S. Embassy, led by Mr. John Breidenstine, Minister Counselor of Commercial Affairs and ASEAN Regional Senior Commercial Officer. We appreciate the opportunities to engage in dialogues with leading universities, which have ultimately led to this educational partnership with Northwestern Medicine. I would like to extend my gratitude to Ms. Jessica Morrissey and Dr. Rujapong Sukhabote, our Chief Medical Officer, for their instrumental roles in spearheading this project. I eagerly anticipate the next phase of this collaboration, which will further enhance our medical services for patients in this region."
Dr. Daniel Derman expressed his enthusiasm, stating, "This marks the first collaboration between Northwestern and a hospital in Thailand. We are excited about the prospects of shared education and clinical observation programs in various clinical areas at MedPark Hospital. Additionally, Northwestern Medicine is considering providing clinical services as visiting physicians at MedPark, initially focusing on areas related to General Surgery, Primary Care, and Radiology programs."
