Sasin School of Management, in collaboration with SCG Chemicals (SCGC), is set to launch the semi-final and final rounds of the SCG Bangkok Business Challenge @ Sasin 2023 Global Competition.
This competition is the longest-running startup competitive platform for undergraduate and graduate students. With the theme of "Growing Impactful Ventures," the competition will feature 20 teams, including the winner of the 2023 Thailand Competition. The event has garnered significant interest, attracting a total of 172 university student teams from 42 leading universities in 16 countries across five continents, all of whom submitted their startup models for consideration. The competition is scheduled to take place from June 22 to 24, 2023, at Sasin School of Management.
"Sasin School of Management has enjoyed a longstanding collaboration with SCGC, the ASEAN chemicals leader, as co-hosts of the SCG Bangkok Business Challenge @ Sasin. Over the past 20 years, this platform has consistently fostered entrepreneurial mindsets, strengthened the startup ecosystem, and fueled creativity and innovation. Through providing this opportunity for young leaders to create a lasting impact and drive global change, we have witnessed a profound transformation in student startup participation. We have also noticed an increasing number of startups embracing digital technology and demonstrating a greater commitment to sustainability," said Professor Dr. Ian Fenwick, Director of Sasin School of Management.
SCG Bangkok Business Challenge @ Sasin is an international ideation competition that aims to expand an integrated network of collaboration. The competition prioritises the development of new businesses to enhance broad-based economic growth both in the region and globally. SCGC plays a key role as the partner of the competition and is ambitious in its efforts to empower startups to prosper in response to global megatrends, with a particular focus on embracing green innovation and solutions. SCGC also strives to maximise the competitive advantages and potentials of startups by promoting knowledge sharing and comprehensive collaboration on startup business development models among participants in Thailand and other countries.
"Over the years, SCGC has provided winning startups and runners-up with an opportunity to further develop their innovations and solutions at the 'i2P' (Ideas to Products) center. This center serves as a hub of thought-provoking ideas for developing creative innovations. Winners are given the chance to pitch their ideas for product development and innovative technologies in collaboration with SCGC's business partners, allowing them to expand their businesses and better reach their target customers," said Dr. Suracha Udomsak, Chief Innovation Officer and Executive Vice President of New Business at SCG Chemicals (SCGC).
The business challenge also boasts a distinguished panel of experienced industry experts who will serve as honorary judges. Among them are Xinyi Tow, Co-Founder & COO of Slate Alt; Shannon Kalayanamitr, CEO of 5G Catalyst Technologies; Robert Lomnitz, Partner at Xpdite Capital Partners and Director of Bangkok Venture Club; Paul Ark, Partner & Head of ESG at Gobi Partners; and Dr. Andrew Stotz, CEO of A.
