OSMEP Launches "Pay Ten Thousand, Get Nine Thousand Back" Campaign to Boost MSMEs

The Office of Small and Medium Enterprises Promotion (OSMEP) has initiated the "Pay Ten Thousand, Get Nine Thousand Back" campaign as part of its Business Development System (BDS) project, known as "SME WoW! Cash Return!" which offers additional subsidies to MSMEs until November 30, 2023.

Under the campaign, MSMEs of all sizes can avail themselves of a proportional subsidy of 90% or up to 10,000 baht. The first 5,000 MSMEs to participate will benefit from this initiative.

According to Mr. Veerapong Malai, Director General of OSMEP, the main objective is to integrate and promote MSMEs in both the public and private sectors, enabling them to grow and compete globally. The BDS system, "SME WoW! Cash Return," plays a crucial role in fostering entrepreneurship and enhancing the competitiveness of MSMEs across various sectors.

Director General Veerapong also outlined the subsidy structure for different types of enterprises under the BDS project. Micro enterprises, including juristic persons and natural persons registered with government agencies, are eligible for an 80% subsidy, capped at 50,000 baht, provided their annual income does not exceed 1.8 million baht. Small enterprises in the manufacturing sector can receive an 80% subsidy, up to 100,000 baht, if their annual income does not surpass 100 million baht. Similarly, small enterprises in other sectors can be subsidised up to 50 million baht per year. Medium-sized enterprises, both juristic persons and those in the manufacturing sector, with annual incomes below 500 million baht and 300 million baht, respectively, can avail themselves of a 50% subsidy, up to a maximum of 200,000 baht.

Mr. Malai expressed that the "Pay Ten Thousand, Get Nine Thousand Back" campaign will provide subsidies at 90% but not exceeding 10,000 baht to MSMEs of all sizes, including juristic persons and individuals registered with government agencies (SME-GP). Micro enterprises with an annual income not exceeding 1.8 million baht, small enterprises in the manufacturing sector with an income not exceeding 100 million baht per year, and other sectors not exceeding 50 million baht per year, as well as medium-sized enterprises in the manufacturing sector with an income not exceeding 500 million baht per year and other sectors not exceeding 300 million baht per year, are eligible. This campaign aims to subsidise the first 5,000 MSMEs with a budget of 50 million baht until September 30th, 2023. Income data will be verified through cross-checking with OSMEP, the Department of Business Development, and the Revenue Department.

OSMEP is collaborating with partner agencies such as the SME Thai Association and the Thai Accounting Firms Association to maximise support for MSMEs. The "Pay Ten Thousand, Get Nine Thousand Back" campaign will provide additional subsidies to 5,000 entrepreneurs in technology application services like Cloud, AI, ERP, POS, and financial accounting services such as accounting systems and management. This privilege is in addition to the twice-yearly subsidy of up to 500,000 baht per person in a fiscal year.

Currently, the BDS project has 131 Business Service Providers (BDSPs) offering 220 services on its website. So far, 5,475 entrepreneurs have applied for these services, with 660 customers selected and 40.96 million baht allocated for subsidies. Entrepreneurs interested in the program are encouraged to register online at bds.sme.go.th and stay updated on news and benefits at www.sme.go.th, as stated by the Director General of OSMEP.
