In a pioneering step towards sustainability and community care, UOB Thailand has transformed nearly 5,000 pieces of old branch apparel into a lifeline for premature babies and sick newborns. Through its 'Waste to Wonder' initiative, the bank has upcycled discarded clothing into 500 lifestyle products, channelling the entire sales proceeds of 500,000 baht to the Children's Hospital Foundation's Angel Miracle Project. This move underscores UOB Thailand's dedication to environmental stewardship and highlights its profound commitment to nurturing the youngest and most vulnerable members of society.
As part of UOB Thailand's "Waste to Wonder" sustainability program, UOB Thailand collaborated with Wishulada Panthanuvong, a renowned Thai environmental artist. They transformed old branch apparel into a variety of upcycled lifestyle products, including rucksacks, tote bags, notebook clutch bags, water bottle pockets, and shopping bags. These products were available for purchase, and the total sales proceeds of 500,000 baht were entirely donated to the Children's Hospital Foundation.
Ms. Piyaporn Ratanaprasartporn, Executive Director and Country Head of Channels and Digitalization for UOB Thailand, said, "Collaborating with WISHULADA on this upcycling initiative not only manages environmental impact but also provides opportunities for premature babies and sick newborns to heal and thrive. I extend my thanks to all employees, customers, and partners contributing to this initiative, reaffirming our steadfast commitment to supporting our communities."
This initiative is integral to the bank's commitment to managing its direct environmental impact and supporting the community. The effort fosters sustainable positive change for a better world and inclusive societies, achieved through corporate philanthropy, collaborative partnerships with stakeholders, and active employee involvement.
