
The Provincial Waterworks Authority (PWA) has announced the first phase of “Drinkable Tap Water and Drinkable Stands” areas, recently initiated at 31 locations alongside 113 tap water stands, with aims to reduce the societal gap and increase access to clean, safe, and hygienic water for the public across Thailand.
Chakapong Kamchan, Deputy Governor (Operation 2) and Acting Governor of PWA, stated, “Following the ongoing mission in ‘Relieve Burdens, Nurture Happiness’ launched by the Ministry of Interior along with the policy ‘Clean and Affordable Water for the Public’ assigned to PWA to accomplish in driving and improving lives among the public. PWA, as a state-owned agency responsible for providing water supply infrastructure services, is prompted to drive forward with the programme ‘Drinkable Tap Water’, in which water supply quality, certified by the Department of Health, is ready to launch 113 Drinkable Tap Water Stands across Thailand to increase access to hygienic water as well as to reduce expenses among the public.”
The preliminary services are progressing in 3 stages as follows;
Phase 1: Drinkable Tap Water in 31 locations with 113 stands. (Services started since January 2024)
Phase 2: Drinkable Tap Water in 53 locations
Phase 3: Drinkable Tap Water in 169 locations
The Drinkable Tap Water in 253 locations has been certified and requires regular quality evaluation with certification checks every 3 years. The water quality certification requirements, including water quality monitoring, sediment drainage, and complaints management, are set as guidelines to ensure PWA's continuous support and standard consistency.
The Drinkable Tap Water locations and stands can be checked at www.pwa.co.th/pwadrinkingwater. PWA digital services will be extended to PWA Plus Life, the application soon to be launched to facilitate the public in accessing Drinkable Tap Water locations with convenience.
