Trend Micro's Risk to Resilience World Tour 2024 is back this year under the theme "Innovation Meets Adrenaline.” This global cybersecurity event, including stops in Thailand, showcases developers competing to combat threats in a “Race Against Threats.” In today's business landscape, threats abound, necessitating proactive risk reduction by leaders. With cybercriminals increasingly leveraging AI to exploit vulnerabilities, Trend Micro has embraced the vision of AI for Security. It has integrated Generative AI into its Vision One platform to swiftly and effectively detect threats, meeting the evolving needs of businesses in the GenAI era.
Dhanya Thakkar, Senior VP of Global Sales & Marketing at Trend Micro, highlighted that in its 35-year history, the company has consistently evolved its cybersecurity platforms to address two critical dimensions: shifts in consumer behaviour and changes in infrastructure. For instance, the proliferation of smartphones has reshaped consumer behaviour, while the emergence of cloud technology has revolutionised infrastructure. Each of these shifts necessitates the company to develop innovative new solutions to effectively meet evolving demands.
Today, AI is reshaping both consumer behaviour and infrastructure, profoundly impacting businesses. The explosion of AI-powered tools is augmenting productivity across various sectors, with large organisations increasingly integrating Private Large Language Models (LLMs). Concurrently, cybercriminals have adapted, harnessing AI as a pivotal weapon, spawning new attack vectors and presenting fresh challenges for defenders.
Partnering with NVIDIA to Develop AI for Security
Due to the challenges posed by new attack methods, Trend Micro has partnered with NVIDIA, a leading AI company known for its innovations in GPUs and data centres, to co-invest in resources for developing AI-powered cybersecurity systems. Dhanya expressed excitement about collaborating with NVIDIA to enhance the NVIDIA Morpheus platform for rapid threat detection and to integrate security technology into NVIDIA NIM. These solutions will cater to businesses using public cloud services and private clients, such as government agencies needing to protect domestic databases.
"We believe organisations are seeking security systems that help them survive threats rather than merely living with the risk of attacks," Dhanya added.
AI Solutions for Thai Businesses
Piyatida Tantrakul, Managing Director, Trend Micro, discussed how the AI-powered Vision One platform assists Thai organisations. As businesses in Thailand incorporate AI to enhance operations, they must also ensure robust security systems. Trend Micro (Thailand) leads by deploying AI-powered platforms to address business needs. Today’s organisational attack vectors are diverse, ranging from smartphones and remote conferencing platforms to emails and various applications, such as those in finance or HR. Consequently, cybersecurity must evolve into a versatile platform capable of intelligent defence against threats like Deepfake or Prompt Injections, accurately identifying intruders. This comprehensive solution is what Trend Micro (Thailand) offers to its clients.
In addition to AI-powered platforms, the company extensively trains its team in cybersecurity, elevating employees to trusted advisors capable of discussing technical matters with clients and planning 3- to 5-year strategies.
“We have a team capable of customising various techniques to suit Thailand, analysing which issues customers encounter the most, being vigilant and protective of customers, and ensuring they always feel secure and stable,” said Piyatida.
“Trend Micro has over 500,000 customers worldwide who trust our security solutions. Despite attacks coming from various channels, what matters most is our vigilance against every attack. We continue to heavily invest in R&D each year to develop platforms that meet our customers' needs in every dimension. Our competitors are not just cybersecurity platform companies but cybercriminals,” Dhanya concluded.
At the Trend Micro Risk to Resilience World Tour 2024, themed "Innovation Meets Adrenaline," Dhanya Thakkar, Senior VP of Global Sales & Marketing at Trend Micro, spoke on "AI-Powered Future: A New World Order." He emphasised the rapid development of AI today, highlighting that businesses need to leverage AI as a growth catalyst and to protect organisational data from attacks. He also discussed Trend Micro's Vision One platform, a unified cybersecurity operations centre that works on protection, detection, and response to advanced threats, and audits attack pathways, including Zero Trust network access.
Piyatida Tantrakul, Country Manager of Trend Micro (Thailand), discussed "Resilience in the Modern Era," expanding on the use of AI to maintain organisational security. She illustrated the growing threats, notably ranking ransomware as the top threat, affecting sectors from finance and banking to government and technology. Trend Micro views AI deployment across four main areas: 1. Protecting AI users from attacks and misuse. 2. Safeguarding the AI systems organisations employ. 3. Securing AI data centres in the next era. 4. AI-powered cybersecurity systems.
