STGT strengthens its leadership as Thailand’s first producer of EUDR rubber gloves, aligning with global traceability standards.

STGT Delivers EUDR-Compliant Rubber Gloves to Europe

Sri Trang Gloves (Thailand) Public Company Limited (STGT) is set to deliver its first orders of natural rubber gloves produced from EUDR-compliant latex sourced from its parent company, Sri Trang Agro-Industry Public Company Limited (STA), to customers across the medical and other industry sectors by August 2024. This significant step underscores STGT's readiness to meet the European Union's forthcoming traceability requirements for natural rubber and processed rubber products, which will be enforced by the end of this year and in other regions worldwide in the future.

Ms. Jarinya Jirojkul, Chief Executive Officer of STGT, the leading producer and distributor of natural rubber and nitrile gloves in Thailand and one of the largest globally, announced that the company is proceeding with the delivery of EUDR-compliant rubber gloves to customers who placed orders in July, with the first shipments to Greece scheduled for August 2024. This move comes in response to the European Union's upcoming enforcement of the EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR), effective from 31 December 2024. The regulation mandates that all exports of natural rubber and rubber products to Europe must undergo traceability checks to ensure they do not originate from deforested or illegally occupied forest areas.

STGT is fully prepared to export all types of EUDR-compliant rubber gloves, thanks to a series of readiness measures implemented in recent times. "We have a competitive advantage in our production supply chain, starting from the upstream stage," said Ms. Jarinya. This advantage includes sourcing EUDR-compliant natural rubber latex, the primary raw material for producing natural rubber gloves, from STA. STA has developed a comprehensive land plot database management system for rubber plantations operated by farmers and rubber traders, along with a system that ensures 100% traceability of rubber origins through the "Sri Trang Friends" application. Additionally, the introduction of the "Traceable Natural Rubber (GPS)" initiative allows for precise tracing of rubber origins, demonstrating the company's preparedness to comply with EUDR requirements from Europe and other regions that may demand traceability in the future.

Ms. Jarinya further explained, "We have proactively prepared for the production and export of EUDR-compliant rubber gloves to the European Union and other trading partners by leveraging the advantage of Sri Trang Group's fully integrated supply chain, from upstream to downstream. This enables us to enhance our competitive edge and swiftly adapt our production to comply with EU regulations. Furthermore, we focus on operating in line with policies that prioritise environmental, social, and governance (ESG) aspects, maintaining our commitment to sustainable and transparent business practices. By adhering to these standards, we aim to uphold our leadership position in the global rubber glove industry and continue delivering on our promise to 'Protect Every Touch with Care' for lives around the world."

This proactive approach reinforces STGT's commitment to sustainability and its role as a leader in the global rubber glove industry, ensuring that its products meet the highest environmental and ethical standards.
