Maurice Lacroix presents the striking AIKON Automatic Wotto Limited Edition, a wearable masterpiece that redefines tradition with an avant-garde spirit. Limited to just 1,000 pieces, this timepiece merges urban culture, intricate engraving, and Swiss horological expertise, marking its entry into the prestigious Urban Tribe series.
The story behind this extraordinary design began in 2021, when Hungarian artist @Timeengraver engraved an AIKON watch and shared it on Instagram. This independent artistic expression set off an unexpected chain of events, inspiring Maurice Lacroix to launch the highly sought-after AIKON Automatic Urban Tribe and AIKON Automatic Skeleton Urban Tribe, with the designer’s approval. Two years later, the concept evolved further with the introduction of a new artistic collaboration—this time featuring British artist Wotto, a leading figure in street art.
The AIKON Automatic Wotto Limited Edition brings Swiss watchmaking and Wotto’s imaginative universe together, exemplifying the power of urban culture—a dynamic artistic dialogue in motion, where creativity and craftsmanship merge seamlessly.
A Fusion of Art and Watchmaking
Wotto, or Craig Watkins, is a British expatriate based in California who has made a name for himself in urban art with his distinct doodle style—a unique blend of playful and surreal elements, infused with chaos, emotion, and humour. His signature characters, a whimsical mix of the cute and the bizarre, invite viewers into a vivid, animated world filled with hidden stories and artistic symbolism.
The AIKON Automatic Wotto Limited Edition is more than an engraved watch—it is a wearable work of art. The 42mm stainless steel case, bracelet, and bezel are adorned with meticulously engraved motifs from Wotto’s prolific imagination. Skulls, mushrooms, hearts, skateboarding ghosts, and lightning bolts intertwine with the artist’s signature “W”, forming a continuous visual narrative across the bracelet, case, and bezel. The interplay of polished surfaces and deep engravings adds remarkable contrast and depth to the watch’s design.
The real highlight of this edition, however, is its dial. For the first time in the Urban Tribe series, Wotto was given complete creative freedom to craft his own graphic universe. Set against a simple grey background, a circle of playful characters appears in a gradient of yellow to blue, creating a mesmerising, eye-catching display. To ensure the artwork remains the focal point, minimalist metal indexes subtly mark the hours.
Exceptional Craftsmanship and Performance
Beneath this artistic exterior lies the automatic ML115 calibre, providing a 38-hour power reserve. The 200-metre water-resistant case features an anti-reflective sapphire crystal case back, allowing wearers to admire the intricate movement within—a different kind of craftsmanship in its own right.
The AIKON Automatic Wotto Limited Edition embodies the perfect balance between bold aesthetics and Swiss precision. Staying true to the Maurice Lacroix philosophy, it offers exceptional quality and a high level of finishing while remaining accessible. Its distinctive artistic DNA and striking presence make it a statement piece destined to turn heads and spark admiration.
