BEM Reassures Public on MRT, Expressway Safety

Dr Sombat Kitjalaksana, Managing Director of Bangkok Expressway and Metro Public Company Limited (BEM), has extended his deepest condolences to the families and individuals affected by the earthquake on 28 March 2025.

In response to public concern regarding the safety of the MRT Blue Line, MRT Purple Line, and the expressways under BEM’s management—namely the Si Rat Expressway (Second Stage Expressway), the Udon Ratthaya Expressway, and the Prachim Ratthaya Expressway—the company affirms its unwavering commitment to safety and operational readiness.

All infrastructure under BEM’s supervision has been designed and constructed in full compliance with earthquake-resistant safety standards. The company consistently carries out stringent maintenance, inspections, and structural assessments to ensure the highest levels of safety and reliability.

Immediately following the earthquake, BEM dispatched a team of engineers and specialists to conduct thorough inspections across all MRT and expressway systems. The evaluations confirmed that all infrastructure remains structurally sound and fully compliant with safety standards.

BEM assures the public that all services continue to operate as normal and remains committed to maintaining the safety and reliability of its transport network.
