CP Group Mobilises Earthquake Relief Across Region

Senior Chairman Dhanin and CEO Suphachai lead CP Group’s coordinated response to support victims in Myanmar and Thailand. 

CP Group Mobilises Earthquake Relief Across Region

In response to the devastating earthquake that recently struck Myanmar and parts of Thailand, CP Group has launched a comprehensive relief operation to support affected communities. Demonstrating solidarity and compassion, the Group’s top executives, including Senior Chairman Dhanin Chearavanont, Chairman Soopakij Chearavanont, and CEO Suphachai Chearavanont, led employees across its global offices and factories in observing a moment of silence on 31 March to honour those who lost their lives.

Mr Dhanin expressed his deepest condolences to the victims’ families and reaffirmed CP Group’s commitment to closely monitoring the situation and supporting relief efforts. He emphasised that all business units have prioritised efficient crisis management and the rapid deployment of necessary resources.

An emergency meeting chaired by Mr Suphachai followed, during which he underscored the importance of safeguarding employees, customers, and partners. Independent engineers have confirmed the structural integrity of CP buildings, allowing operations to resume while enabling each business unit to adapt its response to local needs. 

As part of its 'CP for Good Deeds' initiative, CP Group launched the campaign “Sending Strength to Earthquake Victims”, with volunteers spearheading relief operations in cooperation with government agencies, local communities, and NGOs. 

On 1 April, CP Group supplied essential food items to two Royal kitchen stations in Bangkok. Led by senior executives including Mr Jhomkitti Sirikul, Ms Puangphen Sunthornsiri, and Mr Tienchai Jupattanakul, donations were received by Maj Gen Suravith Dangchant and included: 

  • 450 kg of rice from CPI
  • 10,000 eggs from CPFGS
  • 1,000 bottles of water from CP All
  • 500 pieces of bread from CPRAM 

These items supported survivors and rescue teams, including those affected by the collapse of the Office of the Auditor General (OAG) building in Bangkok. Additional aid distributed elsewhere included: 

  • 30,000 eggs, 500 kg of chicken, 300 kg of pork (valued at THB 193,000)
  • 1,470 kg of rice (CPI)
  • Dim sum and bread from CPRAM

Support was also extended through the Phetkasem Foundation at the Erawan Shrine, with further donations from the Goodness Foundation and Ruamkatanyu Foundation. Over 12,000 CP-branded face masks were provided to protect frontline workers from dust and debris. 

Meanwhile, True Corporation ensured stable communications for rescue teams in affected or remote areas. 

In Myanmar, CP Group’s relief team led by Mr Uthai Tantipimonphan, Vice Chairman of Myanmar CP Livestock, visited ShweGu Monastery in Yangon, distributing water, eggs, chicken sausages, and cooking oil to displaced survivors. 

Makro Myanmar, with the Thai Business Association of Myanmar and support from the Thai Embassy, supplied: 

  • 150 pallets of drinking water 

  • 100 pallets of instant noodles 

  • 150 pallets of cakes 

  • 40 pallets of energy drinks 

CP Group remains committed to standing with affected communities and delivering meaningful support during this time of hardship.
