Art is a universal language that bridges the past, present, and future. Thai Form and Spirit is an evocative exhibition that explores the union of the tangible and intangible—of form and spirit—through artworks rooted in Thai cultural identity and interpreted through the evolving language of contemporary art.
Hosted at ICON Art & Culture Space, 8th Floor, ICONSIAM, this exhibition features the thesis works of students from the Thai Painting Programme, Department of Traditional Thai Arts, Poh-Chang Academy of Arts, Rajamangala University of Technology Rattanakosin. It forms part of the Grad and Glow Arts Thesis Showcase.
Visitors are invited on a visual journey of searching, exploring, and reinterpreting “Thainess” from new and vibrant perspectives. The young artists showcased are on the cusp of professional practice, presenting deeply considered works that not only reflect aesthetic excellence but also capture the cultural spirit passed down through generations.
Each piece is a thoughtful composition where tradition meets innovation—where age-old philosophies, inherited beliefs, and social commentary are expressed through contemporary
artistic techniques. The result is a harmonious dialogue between the classical and the modern, revealing the enduring relevance of Thai heritage in today’s creative context.
The exhibition invites audiences to look beyond the surface—to experience how Thai identity continues to thrive and transform through art. It is a celebration of the next generation of Thai artists who are moving forward with pride in their roots and confidence in their creative voice.
Don't miss Thai Form and Spirit—on view now until 16 April 2025 at ICON Art & Culture Space, ICONSIAM.
