Her Majesty Queen Sirikit will tomorrow preside over the foundation laying ceremony for a new building at the Queen Sirikit National Institute of Child Health (Children's Hospital) to commemorate her 80th birthday.
The Queen, whose birthday is on Aug 12, named the building under construction "Akarn Chalermphrakiat 80th Pansa Maharajini", or Her Majesty the Queen's 80th Birthday Anniversary Building (Children's Specialty Medical Centre) .
Surakiarti Sathirathai, chair of the fund-raising committee, said donations were welcome. The new building will enhance the capacity of the hospital, the country's only children's hospital which now treats more than 350,000 outpatients and 15,000 inpatients a year.
An additional 600 million baht is needed for the 1.6 billion baht building which will open in 2016.
