Cooperate for peace

Re: "How to finance global survival", (Opinion, March 3).

In response to an opinion piece co-written by Mia Amor Mottley and Svenja Schulze, global survival cannot be imagined without global cooperation rooted in global solidarity.

More innovation, more inclusion, more foresight, and investing in the global public goods that sustain us have to be actively promoted.

Realistic strategic foresight is needed in a world characterised by global vulnerabilities, perplexities and discontinuities.

A stronger focus must be put on the necessity of permanent collective efforts to achieve a better and more peaceful world.

In this process, multilateral cooperation and global solidarity are the only cardinal solutions leading to visible progress if there is genuine wish to overcome the vast range of globalised social, economic, and security challenges the world is facing.

Re: "AI is no more of an inventor than your cat", (Business, March 3).

Yes, any major innovation or new technology is created by tech companies to make money. It is the only purpose.

Last week, Elsevier, one of the largest portals for research articles, drew attention to publishing ethics in "The Use of AI and AI-Assisted Technologies in Scientific Writing".

It listed three things. First, writers should not credit or list artificial intelligence (AI) as an author or co-author; second, when deployed tilised in writing, AI and AI-assisted technologies should only be used to increase readability; third, the writers must say if their publication uses AI or AI-assisted technologies, and a statement will be included in the final product. The details can be found on their website.

One day, the Bangkok Post will have to put similar guidelines or warnings for contributors in BP, Opinion, and Postbag.

The solution lies in making the users aware of the pitfalls of abusing such technologies.

Who's in charge?

I wonder, who is in charge of that stretch of road which extends from the RCA tollgate east towards Soi Soi Soonvijai, passing along Makkasan police station?

That piece of road is in such awful condition that an upcountry trail is like a highway compared to this pothole marathon. Who is responsible for its maintenance?

The State Railway of Thailand, which has tracks along that stretch? The RCA owners? The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration? Whoever is, that entity should urgently repair this road, which is an utter disgrace!

Easy to prove

Re: "Late convert to democracy", (Editorial, March 3).

There is a simple litmus test for Deputy Prime Minister and Palang Pracharath Party leader Prawit Wongsuwon's claim to have converted to democracy.

If Gen Prawit is sincere, he can easily prove his commitment to democratic principle. He need only join the Move Forward Party in calling for reforms to Thai laws which contradict democracy, in both execution and principle. Only then will his claim that he is now a believer in democracy has any meaning.

More specifically, the nation will then believe that Gen Prawit is indeed genuine when he calls to an end to imprisoning Thais for peacefully expressing their opinions.

Let us look forward to Gen Prawit proving his claims to now respect democratic principle and process.
